Hollywood Royalty Over 50 Who Had Stunning Hair, Makeup, and Skin at the 2019 Golden Globes

The Golden Globe Awards® are the perfect way to kick off red carpet season for many reasons, but we’re especially partial to all of the aspirational beauty looks it elicits. And 2019 proved that some of the most smouldering looks came from women over 50. From plunging side parts and loose waves, to luscious lashes and glossy lips, these ladies are serving up beauty inspiration. Below, our favorite beauty looks from actresses over 50.

Crazy Rich Asians star Michelle Yeoh had glowing skin, a glossy neutral lip, and mile-high lashes. Her s-waved hair was swooped over in a deep side part. According to Twitter® reports, the 56-year-old was rocking the giant emerald ring she wore in the movie.

Key products used: On Yeoh’s cheeks, Dior® Makeup Artist Sabrina Bedrani used the Dior Blush Palette Origami #002 ($70). Her eyes were lined with Diorshow On Stage Liner® #091 Matte Black ($31), and her brows shaded with Diorshow® Brow Styler in #001 ($29).

Debra Messing looked svelte, thanks to a shimmering frock and sleek, brushed-back hair which fell in loose curls down her back. According to her hairstylist, Robert Vetica for Olivia Garden®, the look was centered around glamour.

“We added extensions for more volume, as well as about three inches of extra length,” he shares. “We left Debra’s hair down and loose — no tight updos — and really played up the shine and bounce.” As for her makeup look, the star rocked smoky eyes and a glossy nude lip.

Key products used: To get the look, Vetica prepped the hair with the Leonor Greyl® Condition Naturelle ($38) and the Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice ($46). Next, he used the Olivia Garden Ceramic Ion Dryer ($160) and Ecohair® Combo Vent ($22) round brush to blow dry the star’s hair back, away from her face.

Makeup artist Matthew VanLeeuwen for Beautycounter® prepped the star’s skin with the Dew SkinTM Moisturizing Coverage ($45) for a luminous base. To create a believable bronze, he used the Radiant All Over BronzerTM in Surf ($39) and finished with a swipe of Satin Powder BlushTM in Nectar ($30).

Dirty John star Connie Britton graced the carpet looking beachy chic, thanks to tousled waves. The nominee finished her look with a soft smokey eye and a rosy pink lipstick.

Key products used: The star tightened and firmed her skin with an ice roller before the show, as seen on her Instagram® Stories.

To accentuate Britton’s glow, makeup artist Christy Coleman for Beautycounter bronzed the actress’ cheeks using a Highlighter in Topaz ($39) topped with the brand’s Instant Glow Illuminating Cream ($32).

Julia Roberts’s skin looked naturally beautiful with a perfect peach flush. We also loved her romantic brown eye shadow and lovely neutral lip. Her golden wavy hair was tossed over to the side, showing off a pair of dazzling earrings.

Key products used: Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey for Lancome® primed the star’s skin with Lancôme Prep & Hydrate Primer TM ($35). For that peach flush, she used Lancôme Le Monochromatique Blush in Petit Bisou ($25) on the cheeks. For lips, Lancôme Starlight Sparkle L’Absolu Rouge® in Peut-Etre ($32) and a coat of the L’Absolu Gloss in 272 over top for added dimension.

Halle Berry went for the drama with ultra-long extensions pulled up in a sleek blonde ponytail with a set of curtain bangs. She smouldered with smoky black shadow, bronzed cheeks, and a dewy-looking beige lip, outlined with creamy matching lip liner.

Nicole Kidman rocked a relaxed low bun, with a strand of loosely curled hair pulled out. Her makeup was simple: radiant skin with a pop of ruby red lipstick.   

Key products used: Kylee Heath for TRESemmé® prepped Kidman’s hair with TRESemmé Thermal Creations Blow Dry Balm ($4) to smooth her strands. Next, she blew out her hair and tied it into a loose low bun. To finish, she pulled out the face-framing strand, which she curled with a one-inch curling iron. Heath brushed out the curl to loosen, and finished with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum ($5) to give hair a final gloss.

Makeup artist Angela Levin for Neutrogena® primed the 51-year-old’s face with the brand’s new Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Retinol Oil ($28), followed by the Hydro Boost City Shield® Facial Gel Mist ($23). To keep Kidman’s makeup looking radiant, Levin used the Neutrogena Healthy Skin® Liquid Makeup in Classic Ivory ($15). To get that gorgeous berry stained lip, Levin applied the shade Instinct from the Neutrogena Force of NatureTM Lip Palette by Kerry Washington ($13).

Laura Dern’s hair was tousled in piecey waves and a deep side part. Her lips and cheeks were tinted with understated shades of petal pink. The actress’ lashes looked lush and inky black.

Key products used: Creighton Bowman for Dove® Hair used the Dove Style + Care® Volume & Fullness Mousse ($4) was worked throughout the hair before blow drying in two-inch sections. Next, he applied the Dove Style + Care Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray ($4) before styling with a one-inch curling iron, wrapping hair in alternating directions to create a more naturally-tousled look. To finish, he used Dove Care Between Washes Invisible Dry Shampoo ($5) and Dove Style + Care Compressed Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray ($5).

Patricia Clarkson wore shoulder length hair in softly-bent curls, complete with a sweeping side part. The Sharp Objects star (and Golden Globes winner!) donned a burgundy lipstick with a hint of shine, and kept the rest of her makeup look understated.

Lucy Liu wore her hair in an ultra-sleek updo parted deeply to the side. Her minimal makeup included rose-colored lips and cheeks. The actress looked bright-eyed thanks to extra-lengthy lashes.

Julianne Moore wore her hair in a sleek updo, complete with an ultra-deep side part. Her green eyes were rimmed with shimmering aubergine-hued eyeshadow with a pearly shadow hue dotted in the inner corners. For skin, Moore flaunted rosy blush all over the apples of her cheeks. Her lips glistened in a neutral pink lipstick and gloss.

Key products used: Celebrity Stylist, Marcus Francis for Suave worked the R+Co® Park Avenue Blow Out Balm ($29) through Moore’s hair before blowing it out. To tame frizz, he applied the Suave Professionals® Sleek Anti-Frizz Smooth & Shine Cream ($3) before pulling strands into a low ponytail and spritzing with Suave Professionals Compressed Micro Mist Natural Hold Hairspray ($4).

Patricia Arquette rocked a coiffed updo, parted to the side with a sleek strand of hair pulled out to frame her face. She wore demi-matte rosy lipstick and khol-colored eyeliner along her upper lid.

Glenn Close’s hair was voluminous, piecey, and parted to one side. Her makeup look was simple — radiant cheeks and pale pink lipstick accented with slightly darker shade of lip liner.

Candice Bergen let her voluminous hair flow in a center part. Her skin was lustrous, thanks to a flattering pink blush swept over the apples of her cheeks. The actress kept her lips a neutral mauve hue with subtle sheen.
