If you’ve ever wondered how beauty brands seem to just “know” what colors will be on trend, you have the Pantone® Color of the Year to thank. The team at Pantone Color InstituteTM (the legendary color-matching company) selects a single shade, predicting it to be the most popular pick for the coming year. For 2019, Pantone has declared “Living Coral” — “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge” — as the hot shade for the next 365 days.
We’re thrilled that the retro tint is getting a revival (it’s reminiscent of the ‘60s and ‘70s). Plus, as we descend into winter’s most dismal days, the institute’s video of a similarly-hued fish scoping out some coral has us feeling like we’re on a virtual vacation. We’ve rounded up eight living coral-hued beauty products that will transcend your beauty routine to paradise, below.
Kevyn Aucoin® The Lip Gloss in Reyna
This lip gloss from Kevyn Aucoin ($30) is made with vitamins and soothing oils — including lanolin, sunflower, and castor — to help nourish without leaving behind any greasy residue. The smart applicator was also patented by the brand to create an effect similar to a makeup artist’s pinky finger, delivering both even color and a natural finish.
Benefit Cosmetics Blush in Galifornia®
You’ll channel breezy west coast vibes in one swipe of this bright blush pick from Benefit® ($30). The psychedelic compact contains a buildable, silky powder formula and comes with a small brush so you can recreate your California-inspired look wherever you go.
JINsoon® Nail Lacquer in Pastiche
Strike the perfect balance between playful and posh with this nail lacquer from JINsoon ($18). It boasts a subtle purple shimmer for adding a hint of glimmer to your digits without going overboard. We love how it looks against deeper complexions.
Dior Addict® Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm in Coral
High-fashion meets high-moisture in this beloved color-changing balm from Dior ($34). It contains mango butter to help keep lips hydrated for up to 24 hours, along with a special technology that reacts differently to every wearer’s lips for a bespoke peachy-coral hue.
Indie Lee® Grapefruit Citrus Bath Soak
This bath soak from green beauty brand Indie Lee ($28) is made with a blend of Pink Himalayan, Atlantic, Pacific, and Dead Sea salts to help alleviate topical inflammation or redness, all while leaving skin feeling baby soft. We’re really partial to how the citrus oils wake up and energize the senses before (or after!) a long day.
Charlotte Tilbury® Matte Revolution Lipstick in Sexy Sienna
Charlotte Tilbury’s matte lipstick has gained a cult following for its ability to deliver sleek color that stays (and, unlike a lot of other mattes, isn’t overly drying). This shade in particular ($34) was inspired by Sienna Miller and proves to be the ideal golden coral for spicing up your look in a pinch.
Chantecaille® Blush in Smitten
There’s more to this highly-pigmented elephant-embossed blush ($40) that meets the eye. A portion of all proceeds from the Chantecaille product goes to support the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which helps protect endangered species (namely elephants and rhinos). Plus, the blend of both matte and shimmery textures in one compact ensures that your cheeks will strike the perfect, luminous balance.
Atelier Cologne® Pomelo Paradis® Cologne Absolue
This scent from Atelier Cologne ($135) is practically a global vacation in a bottle thanks to notes such as pink pomelo from Florida, mandarin from Calabria, Moroccan orange blossom, and Bulgarian rose essence. A base of amber, vetiver from Haiti and iris from Tuscany balance out the sweetness for a rich and slightly citrus-y scent that will take you away with the ease of a spritz.
