If You’re Not Using A Hyaluronic Acid-Infused Lip Balm, You’re Missing This Key Benefit

Before you buy you your next lip balm, turn the package over and read the ingredients list. If you see something called hyaluronic acid included, snap it up: this product is bound to deliver juicy lips. That’s because hyaluronic acid is a seemingly miracle ingredient that attracts water, naturally plumping your pucker.
While a lip filler can add volume inside of the lip, the exterior texture (the surface) is still your own. And if your lips are parched, lip filler won’t necessarily help — but topical HA will. “If you put hyaluronic acid superficially on the lips, you address the moisture and smoothness of the lips,” says board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer, who runs a private practice in NYC. “Hyaluronic acid is a great product. He continues to explain why HA is such a perfect fit for lip products. “The lips, especially, can be very dehydrated,” Dr. Shafer says. “ You see people applying lip balm all day, but if you have something that could be longer lasting and actually infuse those hydrating molecules into the skin, it would be a fantastic product.
