Supermodel Nina Agdal on Olive Oil, Eyebrows, and Her Top 11 Beauty Products

You may recognize 27-year-old Nina Agdal from a variety of campaigns: modeling for Victoria’s Secret® or American Eagle Outfitters®, or even eating a fish sandwich in a Carl’s Jr.® commercial. Perhaps you first noticed her when she graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated® Swimsuit Issue in 2014 (with supermodels Chrissy Teigan and Lily Aldridge, nonetheless).

These days, you can catch the smiley blonde on her YouTube® channel, co-hosting a jovial series called “Quirky Is The New Black.” You can also follow along as she demonstrates leg, arm, and ab workouts in her smattering of fitness videos. On a similar note, Agdal promises she has a big fitness and wellness-related project launching soon.

Along with her regular exercise routine, Agdal focuses on maintaining a nutritious diet: “I always make sure to eat good fats like nuts, avocados, and salmon,” she says, adding that she’s “totally not scared to eat olive oil.” (Incidentally, the Denmark-born beauty also loves butter, which she attributes to the fact that it’s used a lot in Danish cuisine.) In addition to fats, Agdal incorporates “lots of greens,” as well as plenty of H2O. “The more water each day, the better!” she says.

Nina Agdal Interview

Perhaps Agdal’s commitment to self-care is influenced by her 59-year-old mother, Anne-mette, who takes excellent care of herself. “[She’s] still stunning,” the model gushes. Yet, despite Agdal’s belief that beauty starts from within, this supermodel also relies on a few trusty product go-tos to keep her glowing. Read on for the lip balm she can’t live without, her haircare necessities for casting calls, and the skincare product she applies religiously.Mario Badescu Skin Care® Facial Spray Trio Travel Edition ($15): “It’s nice to use after a workout or a stressful [airport] check-in. It just feels so refreshing to get a spritz of that. It’s the number one thing that I always bring around with me right now. They make it in a small, to-go bottle.”The Knot Dr.TM for Conair® Pro Mini ($8): “I always put my hair up for workouts, but — if I do a workout and then have to go to a meeting or a casting — I have to be able to put it down if they want to see my hair. I always bring the little brush from Conair with me. I love anything that’s mini. I use that, and dry shampoo.”Oribe® Gold Lust® Dry Shampoo ($46): “It comes in a small travel size, perfect to throw in your bag. You can bring it anywhere.” iS CLINICAL® SPF ($44 to $74): “I started using their products a couple months ago. Usually, I would break out from using sunscreen, but this one is a really nice moisturizer with a lot of SPF in it. For so long, my dermatologist was like, ‘You have to put it on every day.’ Now I actually do — every day. It’s a part of my morning routine. She says if you want to prevent fine lines and sun damage and all that, you have to put on sunscreen. That’s the No.1 rule. Anastasia Beverly Hills® Clear Brow Gel ($22): “It’s one of the first things I do when I put on my makeup so I can tell where to go from there. If I have meetings or castings throughout the day where I would need to look presentable, I bring it around with me. I think everybody needs a good brow gel. The brow is the one thing that frames your face. There’s nothing sadder than a brow that’s going downwards.”Laura Mercier® Foundation Primer ($38): “Sometimes I’ll add it to foundation, but most of the time, I just wear that [alone]. It instantly gives you a glow, and makes you look so healthy. Sometimes after a long flight or a long day, you put that on your skin and it looks super refreshed.” Chloé® Eau De Parfum ($75 to $132): “You can spray it on you, and you feel like you’re cleaner — more awake. It’s floral and sweet. I don’t like when scents are too heavy — especially for the day. It’s fresh and fun.”Old Spice® Wild CollectionTM Deodorant ($5): “I use Hawkridge® [scent]. I love the smell. I don’t know how I discovered it. I wish there was a perfume that I could spray with that. It’s my favorite smell in the entire world. It’s like an obsession.”Garnier® Fructis® Shampoo and Conditioner ($5 each): “I have used the same thing for basically 15 years. Everybody asks, ‘How do you get your hair so thick?’ My hair gets so tangled, and that’s the only conditioner that can help with detangling.”The Body Deli® Healing Balm ($10): “It kind of makes your lips look bigger, which I like. Mandarin Orange is the one I use. Ever since I discovered it, I’ve ordered it in bulk, and I have one in every single corner of my apartment, in every single room. It’s in every purse I have. If I don’t have it and I use something else, I instantly feel the difference”.Maybelline Volum’ Express® The Falsies® Washable Mascara ($5): “My eyelashes are kind of short, so it makes them look longer. [The brush] has a curve, which makes it very easy to apply. I use the ‘Very Black’ one. It’s great because it’s not clumpy.”
