Sephora’s Big Summer Sale Is Here — These Are the 8 Products You Need

beauty products from sephora

As beauty enthusiasts ourselves, we know that there’s one thing we love above all else (including efficacy, packaging, and newness): a sale. Mega beauty retailers so infrequently offer store-wide discounts, so when they do happen, shoppers go wild. Thus, we’re all practically frothing at the mouth at the news of Sephora’s® VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider®) Summer Sale.

If you’re a member of Sephora’s VIB rewards program, you know that there are three tiers: Beauty Insider, the most basic level with no purchases required to participate; VIB, which dictates you spend $350 or more a year to keep your benefits; and Rougesm, for those spending $1,000 or more per year. Rouge members tend to get the best access to launches and discounts at Sephora, and that’s certainly the case for this sale. If you are a VIB Rouge, you will get 20 percent off your Sephora purchases from August 19 through August 27 with the code SUMMERSALE. VIB members will receive 15 percent off purchases with the same SUMMERSALE code from August 20 through August 27. (Unfortunately, it seems that Beauty Insiders will not get any special discounts.)

If you’re already prepared to stock up, hold your horses: there are some very slight exclusions from the sale. You can’t purchase any gift cards, PLAY! Boxes, or combine your code with other discounts. You also can’t buy any products from The Ordinary using the SUMMERSALE code. Dyson products are limited to one per purchase, and Drunk Elephant products are restricted to three per purchase. Otherwise, considering Sephora has literally thousands of offerings available, you can go buck wild with your discount. Below, find the products that we plan on purchasing ourselves.

The just-launched Pat McGrath Labs® Skin FetishTM Sublime Perfection Foundation ($68) is undoubtedly at the top of many VIB members’ shopping carts: the ultra-buildable formula can be layered from sheer to medium coverage to impart a natural, satin-like finish in 35 different hues.

The recently reformulated Drunk Elephant® Lala Retro® Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides ($60) now contains ceramides, a lipid that keeps the skin’s moisture barrier nourished and intact. To help boost the formula’s hydration powers, it also contains a cocktail of nourishing oils (including watermelon and passionflower seed oils) and hyaluronic acid.

If your hair is over the humidity of summer, snag the Kérastase® DisciplineTM Oleo Relax® Anti-Frizz Mask ($59). It’s loaded with shorea butter and coconut oil to soften, smooth, and tame unruly, frizz-plagued strands.

While most pore-minimizing formulas simply use silicone to blur the enlarged appearance, Dr. Dennis Gross® Alpha Beta® Pore Perfecting and Refining Serum ($65) eschews that ingredient entirely in favor of agarikon mushroom extract, adipic and salicylic acids, and farnesol. The result is smaller- and tighter-looking, decongested pores with reduced oil production.

Unsung exfoliating heroes polyhydroxyl acids (PHAs) get recognized in the OleHenriksen® PHATTM Glow FacialTM Mask ($49), in which they gently work to slough away dead skin cells. The vegan formula also contains Nordic birch sap and pink bentonite clay to nourish and clarify for brighter, smoother, skin.

If you’re one of those skincare aficionados who just can’t keep your hands to yourself when it comes to extractions, you should add DERMAFLASH® DERMAPORETM ($99) to your shopping list ASAP. The unique tool uses ultrasonic technology to help remove dirt, oil, and blackheads from your skin in seconds. Bonus: it also helps infuse concentrated serums more deeply into your complexion. We use the two features back to back — extract, then infuse — to help soothe just-picked skin.

Dr. Barbara Sturm’s® products are new to Sephora, and what better way to experiment than picking up the Dr. Barbara Sturm Serum Discovery Set ($325)? It contains four of the brand’s bestsellers — the Calming, Super Anti-Aging, Brightening, and Hyaluronic Acid serums — to help nourish your skin and protect it from free radicals.

We wouldn’t blame you if you picked up the Yves Saint Laurent® LibreTM Eau de Parfum ($78) just as a vanity accessory, but the elegant bottle houses an equally chic fragrance. It’s a take on the iconic fougère, a type of men’s cologne that includes lavender, but formulated with sweet orange blossom and musk to give it a gorgeous feminine flair.
