If there’s one thing Miami does especially well, it’s finding the perfect balance between fun and relaxation. Yes, the coastal Florida city is known for its raucous nightlife scene, but it doesn’t hold back when it’s time to indulge in some serious TLC (and we’re not even talking about relaxing on the sands of South Beach!). Its numerous spas — arguably some of the best in the world — are proof of that. After much consideration, we narrowed down the city’s best. Keep reading to discover the calming destinations that are a must-visit next time you’re in the Sunshine State.
40 Island Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
Why It’s a Must-Visit: Just steps away from the bustle of South Beach, you’ll find The Standard Spa, a unique fusion of hotel-meets-spa nestled among beautiful (and quiet) tropical gardens. Rooms come with a private terrace, many of which are equipped with lavish al fresco soaking tubs.
Regarding décor, amenities, and services, the spa itself draws on traditions of bathing cultures from around the world, including Rome, Russia, and Turkey. In fact, with your hotel stay, you’ll receive access to a complimentary indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy playground of sorts — which includes a stunning Turkish-inspired hammam (yes, please!). You’ll also discover a Roman waterfall hot tub, Finnish sauna, arctic plunge, treatment baths, and infinity pool. And that’s all before you get to your spa service options! While there are many treatments to choose from, we’re fantasizing about The Royal Chillsm ($175), which includes a foot bath, cooling scrub, and reflexology massage utilizing Lord Jones® High CBD Pain & Wellness Formula.
100 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida
Why It’s a Must-Visit: Despite being recently launched in 2019, Dermanova Med Spa & Salon has already proven that it’s a mainstay of the Miami beauty and aesthetics scene. Chances are, if you need a little TLC while in the 305, you can find it here.
The menu combines traditional spa offerings (including Swedish, deep tissue, stone, and sport massages) with other treatments such as lasers, IV drip, and infrared light therapy. The spa also offers beautifying treatments for nails, hair, face, and body. While it can be hard to choose a treatment, we recommend the Hydra Peeling FacialTM ($160), an ultra-satisfying deep clean that nixes pore congestion, banishes blackheads, and exfoliates dead cells away before imparting a hearty dose of nourishing hydration. If you're keen on trying something new, try the Infrared Body DomeTM ($130). The treatment utilizes far infrared waves to boost collagen and elastin production while breaking down fat for a slimming effect.
3201 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
Why It’s a Must-Visit: Stepping out of the Miami sun and into the 22,000 square foot sanctuary of the Tierra Santa Healing House is like going from Dorothy’s black-and-white world to the Land of Oz. The destination is influenced by South American culture and Miami’s own tropics, which is clearly reflected in the venue’s atmosphere: Guests can forget about the outside world and relish rainbow-colored rooms, gilded spas, and intricate floral murals throughout.
Visuals matter, but the Tierra Santa Healing House offers more than an aesthetic dreamland via traditional bodywork, modern modalities, and a new-age healing arts program. It also boasts one of the largest Turkish hammams on the East Coast, with a comprehensive wet spa experience that includes an herbal steam room, ice parlor, and sauna. Try the Hammam Rose RitualTM ($300), a purifying treatment that involves lying on a rose quartz marble slab to receive a lemongrass and mimosa scrub, volcanic clay and calendula mask, and jasmine-scented steam with a rose oil massage (we felt more relaxed just by writing that out!).
101 NE 34th Street, Miami, Florida
Why It’s a Must-Visit: Miami’s urban vibe is alive and well at Hyde Midtown’s Ciel Spa. It’s located in the heart of Wynwood, a neighborhood world-renowned for its vibrant murals at every turn. Ciel Spa offers luxe facilities with an industrial-meets-eclectic aesthetic, and the menu of offerings are as diverse as they are soul-nourishing.
Case in point: The Urban Therapy Experiencesm ($185). This unique fusion of reflexology, stretching, and massage is meant to help balance your body (very zen). If you’re craving something more traditional, the Hyde Signature Massagesm ($185) is the way to go. The full-body massage incorporates an aromatic fruit seed scrub and mask along with body work to relieve tension all over.
485 Brickell Avenue, Miami, Florida
Why It’s a Must-Visit: W Hotels Miami is not only home to one of the most coveted pieces of real estate in the city — a sparkling rooftop pool with sweeping water and city views — but also the luxurious, full-service IconBrickell Spa. The 28,000-square foot sanctuary takes on an urban contemporary vibe teetering on the edge of an Alice in Wonderland vibe. Think sunny yellow chandelier dangling above geometric plunge pools, crisp-white tufted chaises, and Romanesque marble columns.
We recommend the Raindrop Harmony Massagesm ($225), an 80-minute massage that utilizes seven carefully-selected essential oils to help restore balance while working tension out of the body. If you’re going out later that night, try the Heart of the Ocean Facialsm ($155), a no downtime treatment that deep cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates the skin with marine ingredients. A bespoke mask is then applied, followed by a luxurious moisturizer, and a relaxing massage is also included.
