Glow Like Gisele Bündchen With These Expert-Approved Beauty Tips

ven if you’re not a fashion aficionado, you’ve probably heard of — or at least seen — Gisele Bündchen. The Brazilian-born supermodel has appeared in numerous ad campaigns, strutted countless runways, and maintained the gold standard for glowy, effortless beauty for more than two decades. (As if that weren’t enough, she is also married to MVP football player Tom Brady.) But even the most seemingly laidback beauty looks require a routine. Below, we consulted hair, makeup, and skincare experts to dish out tips for achieving Bundchen’s effortless beauty look.

Hair

“Whether it’s the runway or everyday, Gisele is best known for rocking her signature beach waves,” says celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons. “Luckily for us, the look is simple and easy to achieve!” To recreate those tousled strands, he suggests spritzing dry hair with a texture mist. (He loves NatureLab TokyoTM Volume Texture Mist$12, which provides volume, promotes waves, and protects your hair from heat).

Next, grab any 1” curling iron (try the Hot Tools® Signature Series Gold Wand, $40). Starting at the midshaft of the hair, wrap medium-width sections around the wand, alternating the direction of the curl. This technique gives hair a beachy bounce like Bündchen’s.

“To finish the look, [gently] run your fingers through your curls to loosen them for supermodel-worthy undone waves.”

Makeup

The supermodel’s makeup looks tend to be “fresh” and “effortless,” says celebrity and editorial makeup artist Maddie North. North points to dewy skin, flushed cheeks, and a rosy-nude lip as Bündchen’s staples. “Gisele really likes to show off her skin, so applying a foundation that’s not too heavy is key,” she explains.

For a radiant, natural-looking finish, try a sheer formula like the tarte® Amazonian ClayTM BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen ($36). It provides a wash of color that evens out the complexion without masking it.

To recreate Bündchen’s healthy-looking cheek flush, North suggests swiping on Hourglass® Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat ($38), which flatters a variety of skin tones. Next, layer a highlighter like the Becca® Shimmering Skin Perfector ($38). It comes in a range of natural-looking shades.

For lips, North swears by her favorite nude shade, MAC® Cosmetics Cremesheen® Lipstick in Modesty ($19). “It’s perfect for recreating Gisele’s look,” she adds. Finally, finish with black mascara along the top lashes.

Skin

Before you even touch a makeup brush, make sure your skin is fully prepped, North notes — skincare is crucial for getting luminous skin like Gisele’s. According to Dr. Rachel Nazarian of Schweiger Dermatology GroupTM in NYC, “Skin needs to maintain moisture and hydration to look dewy.”

It all starts with your cleanser. “Don’t use harsh soaps that strip skin’s natural waxy barrier,” Nazarian warns. Instead, she recommends a mild cleanser like Dove® Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar ($17 for 12).

Next, it’s time for hydration. “Use a combination of humectants (which draw water into the skin) and emollients (which keep water in the skin and decrease evaporation into the air) for best results,” says Nazarian. Try the hyaluronic acid-packed Neutrogena® Hydro BoostTM Gel Cream ($15), followed by the lipid-rich La Roche-Posay® Toleriane® Double Repair Face Moisturizer ($20) to lock in all that moisture.

To maximize your glow to supermodel heights, Nazarian recommends chemical peels. “Peels can improve skin texture [so it] reflects light in way that appears more radiant,” she says. For at-home use, try a product like the Drunk Elephant® T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial® ($80) that’s been formulated with a blend of AHAs to carefully slough skin. Alternatively, chat with your skincare professional about in-office peels, which can elicit more dramatic results.

In addition to maintaining a solid skincare routine, Bündchen (and her husband!) are known for eating an ultra-healthy diet with skin-supporting foods. “Your skin is an organ, which like everything else in your body depends upon good nutrition to perform at its best,” confirms Nazarian, who notes that a glowing complexion requires a balance of fat, protein, vitamins, minerals, and water.

“Without appropriate amounts of certain vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, C, K and others such as copper and zinc, skin is unable to produce healthy collagen fibers or fight off free radical damage,” she continues. “Premature skin aging can be minimized with a healthy diet of antioxidants —which Gisele seems to often promote.” The supermodel follows a plant-based diet with the occasional lean protein, according to a 2018 interview with W.

Lastly, we’d be remiss not to mention Bundchen’s chiseled cheekbones. While skincare and diet can’t change your facial structure, per se, you can take action to keep skin lifted and prevent sagging. As we age, we lose collagen and elastin — and that ultimately causes sagginess. “The jawline softens and the facial structures lose definition,” Nazarian says.

While skincare can only do so much to stave off gravity, you can help quell premature aging by battling free radicals, which can cause collagen deterioration. Nazarian advises slathering on an antioxidant serum and loading up on daily SPF to help thwart a plethora of known skin agers (pollution and UV light, to name two of the biggest ones).

We can’t guarantee supermodel success or a date with an all-star quarterback, but you can at least achieve the glowy, breezy beauty look that Bündchen is known for.
